A little before June, Ireland passes Marriage Equality, and JK Rowling tweets a meme about "What if Dumbledore and Gandalf were gay together?" Then follows up with "Then they could get married in Ireland". This single tweet had some amazing reproductions -- the ilk Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), Trolls IRL, said they would picket the wedding, but it only got more amazing Thanks to JK Rowling, these fictional characters got married!

I quietly celebrate me being another year older with the gloriousness that some countries have shown the world. Still I was a bit disappointed in my own country for not reaching the same conclusion.

Two years after DOMA was struck from the law, the Supreme Court of the United States of America finally decides that Marriage Equality is protected under our constitution!

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideas of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization's oldest institutions. The Constitution grants them that right. The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed. It is so ordered.
